The garlic is planted

Thursday, we tilled the garden to mix in the mushroom compost that we spread last weekend.

Today, with the help of my parents, we got the garlic in the ground. We planted 5 lb french red shallots, 10 lb music, 5 lb CA late, and 2 lb German. As you can see, we didn’t quite use up all of the garden, so the buyers should have plenty of space.

I bet the buyers will appreciate that you left them some space. I bet they’re not as prolific and experienced gardeners as you are, so they’re glad you’ll be coming back periodically to take care of the garlic and they’ll be able to ask you questions. They’ll also probably be glad that they’re not taking care of the whole huge garden on their first year’s attempt, because it would be overwhelming for newbies (Is that a word I’m allowed to use in relation to gardening?).

I’m glad you were able to get all the garlic planted! Way to go! That’s one more big thing off the “Before We Move” list!

Theoretically you should get a yield of 5*17# or 85# of garlic! That’s a lot of garlic. Hope the weather behaves itself this year. Grow garlic grow!
